In Suse 12.1 I'm unable to detect my Xerox Phaser 6140N USB printer. In the add printer box, under add new printer is just says printer not detected.
In general see http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:How_to_Report_a_Printing_Issue
Perhaps your issue is the same as in http://www.cups.org/newsgroups.php?s1+gcups.bugs+v1+T0+Q%22Xerox+Phaser+6010...

FYT, as far as I see in the product specification at Xerox the Xerox Phaser 6140N is a real PostScript printer. In this case use the PPD file from Xerox to set up the printer, see http://en.opensuse.org/Concepts_printing and http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_Printer
Kind Regards Johannes Meixner
Installed the driver from Xerox. But in add printer, the box shows local or network printer. and I get this message in both local or network printer. "FirewallD is not running. Network printer detection needs services mdns, ipp-client, samba-client enabled on firewall." Then in a minute the box times out. Where is this firewall and how can I enable these things. Sorry, I'm a novice here. Bob
