It looks like there is a version of T/Bird now for 15.3: https://opensuse.pkgs.org/15.3/mozilla-x86_64/MozillaThunderbird-91.3.2-lp15... but I can't get to a place where it will install. Brain fog, I guess. Please help! (Have rm'd the old T'Bird and with luck it's gone.) If I can get it working again you won't have to read email from this awful system! Thanx--doug

Just STOP right there and don't break your system further. Now, go back to YaST package manager, and install again Thunderbird the way it was: cer@Telcontar:~> su - Password: Telcontar:~ # yast2 sw_single & [1] 19586 Telcontar:~ # Then, click on the search box and enter Thunderbird and install it. Once you are back to the point you were, follow the instructions I gave you this morning. And if you really want to restart thunderbird from scratch, remember that this is not Windows. You MUST NOT uninstall Thunderbird, but delete your Thunderbird data directory. cer@Telcontar:~> ls .thunderbird/ Crash Reports Pending Pings Quitados appreg cvimpkkb.Testing dcvgs9m1.default installs.ini profiles.ini zcguwcwo.sequndus cer@Telcontar:~> Simply delete the directory .thunderbird/, that's all. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. Well, OK,I'm only on 15.2 but ... # zypper info MozillaThunderbird Information for package MozillaThunderbird: ------------------------------------------- Repository : openSUSE BuildService - Mozilla (15.2) Name : MozillaThunderbird Version : 91.3.2-lp152.1.1 Arch : x86_64 Vendor : obs://build.opensuse.org/mozilla Installed Size : 217.6 MiB Installed : Yes Status : up-to-date Source package : MozillaThunderbird-91.3.2-lp152.1.1.src Summary : An integrated email, news feeds, chat, and newsgroups client Description : Thunderbird is a free, open-source, cross-platform application for managing email, news feeds, chat, and news groups. It is a local (rather than browser- or web-based) email application that is powerful yet easy to use. And that is really # grep -i Mozilla /etc/zypp/repos.d/* /etc/zypp/repos.d/Mozilla.repo:[Mozilla (${releasever})] /etc/zypp/repos.d/Mozilla.repo:name=openSUSE BuildService - Mozilla (${releasever}) /etc/zypp/repos.d/Mozilla.repo:baseurl=http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_Leap_${releasever} The use of "$releasever" in repos make it valid for 15.3 as well :-) so you can paste that in ============= Now MAYBE .... If I run "/sbin/yast2 sw_single : and search for "Thunderbird" then check "version" I see that earlier versions were available from 'standard' core distribution, as well as OSS-Update. -- “Reality is so complex, we must move away from dogma, whether it’s conspiracy theories or free-market,” -- James Glattfelder. http://jth.ch/jbg

There has been a Thunderbird for 15.3 since the launch: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.3/repo/oss/x86_64/MozillaT... The version you have found is from the Mozilla repository on OBS: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_Leap_15.3/x86_64/... -- Per Jessen, Zürich (4.7°C)

The obvious problem with LTS versions of firefox and thunderbird is that there are a lot of useful addons that don't work anymore because they require the latest version, but aren't available (or updated) for the LTS versions...

Thankfully I'm running TW on my desktop systems by now. I hardly need other OBS repos now.
