I have been experiencing this problem with the current stable version of the amaroK player. Each time I load a playlits with a track count greater than 2, amaroK plays the second track up to the 11th second then it crashes. If I reload the apps, it plays the sound 3-4 times the normal speed, the sound is messed up and all other application using sound also do the same thing. i.e. when I play a movie from MPlayer or KCD Player. Is there something particularly wrong with amaroK or the sound drivers?

Do you have a HyperThreading CPU? If so, you should update to the latest version of Amarok, which is 1.3.7 if you use Guru's RPMs, which you most certainly should. Until just a couple of releases ago (1.3.5, perhaps?) there was a bug in Amarok that manifested only on HyperThreading CPUs. There was one release between when the problem was discovered and when it was fixed in which Amarok detected the presence of a HT CPU and told you not to run it. That only lasted a few days and then the fix was devised and released. The SuSE repository only has version 1.3.1, which is definitely bugged in this way. Randall Schulz
