[opensuse] Desktop effects on Nvidia but with a Xen kernel
Hi, I would like to know if you have any solution to tell me on how to enable desktop effects on a -xen kernel. I found how to enable it on -default kernel and nvidia card. But first of my problem, I did not find no driver for the -xen kernel. The goal, for me is to use it for demonstration purpose, in order to show people the powerof SuSe. Afaik, graphical display is not possible with xen-3.0.3. Did you tried xen-3.0.4? Or lies your problem somewhere else... -- pgp-id: 926EBB12 pgp-fingerprint: BE97 1CBF FAC4 236C 4A73 F76E EDFC D032 926E BB12 Registered linux user: 75761 (http://counter.li.org) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I assume he is reffering to Dom0 not a DomU. I guess if the binary nvidia kernel module is installed on the Dom0 then the desktop effects will also work in Dom0. There have been posts about this before I intent to try and get nvidia working on one of my boxes along with xen. -- david@bottrill.org www.bottrill.org Registered Linux user number 330730 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It's not even possible to compile nvidia driver on a Xen kernel. It exit with a cute error message telling so.

No I wont. I want to stay on stable release. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I asked the question a few weeks ago and someone was good enough to explain the process of getting it to work. Try searching the opensuse arvchives for "Xen and NVIDIA" -- david@bottrill.org www.bottrill.org Registered Linux user number 330730 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
