[opensuse] Computer does not turn off
hi there, i just installed 10.3 to an old athlon 1200. the problem is, that after shutting down suse, the computer does not turn off. The last line on the screen is: Master Resource Control: Runlevel 0 has been reached and then freezes. it sounds like the harddisk is powered off, but the motherboard is still active and has to be switches off manually via powerbutton. i already looked for options in bios but could not find any. any ideas? --stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Try playing with apic/noapic and related options in the kernel boot line. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHvqgutTMYHG2NR9URApBwAJ98Kda08/bYyrjVkT2pAtVH1m7r5ACeIP+H 5n44sXlGuwOO4XpTn1BJCnk= =xZE5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Where does one find all of these options documented for current kernels? -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

/usr/src/linux/Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt contained in kernel-source-2.6.22.5-31.i586.rpm for the 32 bit kernel. I believe this file has what you are looking for. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This is a known PITA bug that for some reason has appeared in 10.3. See: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331747 They are up to Comment #120 or so. I have 3 machines this problem affects 5-8 others that have no problem. Go figure... -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
