[opensuse] Leap 15.2: grub2 patch openSUSE-2020-1282 made my system unbootable
Hi all, was I the only one having issues with openSUSE-2020-1282 (the grub2 patch) that was rolled out yesterday? After installing it I couldn't boot to linux anymore, the error was something about being unable to read the kernel and ram disk. grub2-mkconfig didn't help, only rolling back to the grub version before the patch did. Did anyone else notice? cheers Mathias -- Mathias Homann Mathias.Homann@openSUSE.org Jabber (XMPP): lemmy@tuxonline.tech IRC: [Lemmy] on freenode and ircnet (bouncer active) telegram: https://telegram.me/lemmy98 keybase: https://keybase.io/lemmy gpg key fingerprint: 8029 2240 F4DD 7776 E7D2 C042 6B8E 029E 13F2 C102

works for me

"something about" does not give anything to start with. At most, it is possible to say "so something is wrong". Photo of error screen may give more clue.

here's a photo: https://polr.eregion.de/openSUSE-2020-1282 The errors say: "verification requested but nobody cares: (hd0,gpt6)/grub2/x86_64-efi/ linux.mod", both when reading the kernel and the ramdisk, and after that "press any key" I'm back on the grub menu. Booting from the Leap 15.2 installer DVD and choosing "boot from harddisk" works. Installing the latest grub packages **before** the 2020-1282 patch makes the system bootable again. Should I file a bug? Cheers Mathias

Does not work right now.

https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1175766 Are you using "linux" and "initrd" commands in grub.cfg instead of "linuxefi" and "initrdefi"?

**what** does not work - the link?

**I** am using whatever was put in there when I set up this computer, haven't changed anything about grub.cfg in ages. Also, if there was some change that would make a new grub.cfg necessary, shouldn't running "grub2-mkconfig" take care of that (which I did, without success)? -- Mathias Homann Mathias.Homann@openSUSE.org Jabber (XMPP): lemmy@tuxonline.tech IRC: [Lemmy] on freenode and ircnet (bouncer active) telegram: https://telegram.me/lemmy98 keybase: https://keybase.io/lemmy gpg key fingerprint: 8029 2240 F4DD 7776 E7D2 C042 6B8E 029E 13F2 C102

Choke....... It really does say: "verification requested but nobody cares: ... That's almost as comical as martians in my logs... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
