I uninstalled the following Java packages below from my Tumbleweed machine as I never need Java for any of the sites I visit. Is there any reason to have them, e.g., java-1_8_0-openjdk-plugin when none of the applications the user is going to be using Java, and, wouldn't a system be more secure without Java being installed? After uninstalling the packages below, everything is running just as normal.
Why shouldn't it be normal. A priori the java plugin should be deactivated in the browser, only very few sites are using java over the net afaik. Different is the situation with libreoffice (which may require some java when using templates) and packages like pauker that are java based. --- Mail & Cloud Made in Germany mit 3 GB Speicher! https://email.freenet.de/mail/Uebersicht?epid=e9900000450 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

For your info, LibreOffice uses java.
