The implementation of activities in 4.4 seems to be half baked at best. I hope it is better in 4.6.
yes, it's getting progressively better in 4.5, 4.6. i'd say 65% baked, on 4.6 from KDE:Distro:Factory.
Thanks. In the meantime I found a way to get back to my original settings. I added a 5th desktop (I typically use 4) and selected "different Activity for Each Desktop". The cashew reappeared in the corner and I could delete the offending activity. One thing is certain, I will not touch activities again for a long time. ~/jc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Don't give up too soon. I upgraded to 4.6 last week and started using 'Activities' and I'm very impressed. I used to have 8 virtual desktops, which I used to separate different types of activity. Now, I have 7 'Activities' setup, and I've reduced my number of virtual desktops to 4. Each activity has the Activity Bar widget at the top of the screen, allowing for fast switching between activities, and below this I have the Quicklauncher widget, with icons for the applications used most commonly in that activity. A different background for each activity helps to differentiate between them.
