[SLE] Strange "Software Updater" and YOU Behavior
It had been quite a while since the Software Updater had notified me of any updates so I thought I'd run YOU just to double check things. YOU then proceeded to ask me to insert my installation CD! Hello! Why would I be going to "Online Update" to install from the CD?! Anyway, there was an option to skip that source, which I did, and the YOU then continued on for a while apparently looking for updates via the mirror I have set up. When the list of available updates came back, there was nothing new there. I then decided to run YOU again, just to see if I was again prompted for the installation CD. This time I wasn't, and when the list of available patches came back, lo and behold there was actually a YAST specific update that needed to be installed, so I installed it. Oh well, just more strange behavior by the updating software I guess. Seems like you never know what might happen next with this thing. If you deinstalled Mono or other related it likely wanted to pull Mono off your CD. No, I hadn't done any software maintenance (installs, uninstalls) since I last checked for updates.
