[opensuse] Firefox 3.0.12 newer than Firefox 3.5.0?
I know the cause for this, my update repo is higher priority than the Mozilla repo but that is just crazy. Doesn't YOU and kde-updater program also take version numbers into account? -- "We must plan for freedom, and not only for security, if for no other reason than only freedom can make security more secure." Hi Adam, Priorities is the way to have multiple software sources ordered by user preference. As long as package is present in higher priority repo, lower priority repo is not taken in consideration. If package management would look in all repos despite user explicit wish not to do so, then it would be a bug. If you want to have FF 3.5 considered then Update and Mozilla repo must be the same priority level. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I know I could search for what I am looking for related to this, but could I please get the correct specs for the Firefox /Mozilla repository or repositories, as the case may be. Also I think I saw something recently about an opensuse webpage re:additional repositories; perhaps there might even be more than one. But any info about repositories, especially anything along the lines of repository configs that have been checked out by someone who knows what they are doing with repositories, would be appreciated. I understand how to add them, change priority, etc., but have no idea if there might be better ways to manage the updates, other than what I have set now. Thanks, and please, no flames like "try the search button on...". I am looking more for "battle-tested" configs based on experience. In particular, although I know how to alter priorities, I have little to know idea of what would be the best order when using "additional" repositories outside the official ones for opensuse 11.1. Also, I considered the possibility of opening a new thread, to avoid the possibility of "hijacking the thread", but decided that this is closely enough related, so forgive me if your opinion differs on that (although your opinion and advice is welcome.) As I said I know why it was saying that, and I did say that I had my mozilla repo set lower than the update repo. Just one would think that version number would be taken into consideration so if version installed is newer than version in the update repo then the update will be ignored. How would it be a bug for the update system to compare version installed verses version patch, this only makes sense I just figured I should say something about this that is all. -- "We must plan for freedom, and not only for security, if for no other reason than only freedom can make security more secure." That is feature that prevent updater applet signaling that there is update, when update comes from repo that I want to have current, ie. enabled and refreshed, but not used as primary source of installation. Packman is good example. I want few packages from Packman, that are also provided by openSUSE, but not all. I don't want to fight dependencies, have overwritten openSUSE files, have updater applet always on, because Packman offers new version of packages that I have no interest in. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
