The basic is a first step fromwithin Yast in 7.3 or former : download 8.0 on a separate partition afterewards go to Yast and quit the mounting point of the partition where You downloaded 8.0 Then start from the disquette + modules1 disks. It sd be OK Luck to all !
sorry. i don't quite get it. when you say to quit the mounting point, do you mean delete from fstab? i can see where such a thing might help if yast is trying to mount an already mounted file system and gets upset by a failure. alas, though, i don't have room for the entire installation on my disk, and have been trying to install via ftp. my results have been similar to those of others trying to install from a local hard drive, so maybe there is an application of this information to my dilemna. i just don't see it yet. bc usb wrote:

If Yu try to upgrade directly from FTP, I guess Yu sd at least download bootdisk+modules1 from the disks directory and copy them on separete disquettes. Start Yr computer from the disquettes then, so that Yr partitions will still be unmounted when Yast will try to mount them.
