I am trying to install 8.0 on my Dell inspiron 2500 notebook by FTP The first problem is the system hangs when booting from the boot floppies I downloaded. The hang occures while booting the kernel, at activating the PCMCIA devices message. Same thing with the downloaded CD image. ( I need the pcmcia card to access the network to get the ADSL server) I can boot no problem with the SuSe7.2 DVD so there must be a change in the drivers since then that is causing the problem. Has anyone seen this? Knows a fix? If I use the 7.2 disc and ask it to FTP install from the suse/8.0 directory I get a bad checksum message - is this a cross version problem? I can access the 7.2 directory OK - but did not try any further as I have the disc for that and I want to try 8.0. Can anyone advise a simple proceedure to install 8.0 using the 7.2 install disk? Thanks David
