I'm trying to install the package lirc-0.6.2 from lirc.org. It won't compile because they say from their FAQ: ----------------------------------------------------------------- .When I try to compile LIRC on SuSE 7.0 I get this error message. [...] lirc_dev.c:312: macro `devfs_register' used with only 8 args lirc_dev.c:634: warning: preprocessing directive not recognized within macro arg lirc_dev.c:628: unterminated `#else' conditional lirc_dev.c: In function `lirc_dev_init': lirc_dev.c:632: undefined or invalid # directive make[5]: *** [lirc_dev.o] Error 1 [...] The kernel that comes with SuSE 7.0 has been patched for devfs support in a way not compatible with other implementations. Please use a standard kernel that you can download from kernel.org. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm not running 7.0 but 6.4 with 2.2.16_SuSE kernel. I really would prefer to use SuSE's kernel as opposed to a vanilla kernel from kernel.org. Is there any way around this problem without using the vanilla kernel sources? Does SuSE have possibly say a 2.2.18 that doesn't have the above problem? Or has anybody else run into this and have a solution? SuSE??? Thanks... -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh@cfl.rr.com
