You could try a commerical Xserver such as xig.com's Accelerated X or you could try MetroX. They are both about $100 or so..but they work really well and usually support cards much quicker then XFree86 does. * dids (richard@diddyland.com) [000909 15:58]: -->Sadly the article mentions that he couldnt get his mx card to work with -->xfree86 --> -->oh pooh --> -->dids -- Cheers, Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ------------------------- Warning to the Human Race: Objects in mirror are dumber than they appear. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Hi there. In SuSE 6.3 yast, under 'Adjustments of installation', there's an entry called 'Configure the Logical Volume Manager'. Being eager to explore everything, I open it, and a warning message says, In order to set up an LVM system you need to be have knowledge of the structure and functionality of a Logical Volume Manager. If you do not have this knowledge, you should not set up an LVM system, but rather use a conventionally partitioned installation. (....) Start the LVM setup? Not being familiar with LVM, I choose 'no'. So far, so good. But now, every time when booting, a few messages appear which I did not see before: Remounting root file system (/) read/write for vgscan... Scanning for LVM volume groups... vgscan -- reading all physical volumes (this may take a while...) It indeed takes some 45 seconds - and the CD player starts running! - only to discover the following: vgscan -- no volume groups found Activating LVM volume groups... vgchange -- no volume groups found Booting takes a longer time now, obviously for nothing. So I wonder how I could switch this off.
