I tried listening to them. But the MP3 files all skip and sputter in every player my Debian system has. Yet the player in my Zaurus plays them just fine. Very odd, but it does mean that I'm the only person who can hear them. Not good when trying to play them for the family.

there are many kinds od mp3, may be you hit a rare one? how did you make them? if from a wave file, look at lame options.
