Differences... [ .patch / .diff / .dif ]
Hi, I found no information on the naming conventions, why the above three extensions are used in paralell and in fact what are the general differences between them? e.g. In the file http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/professional/nvu.html all of the subj. three names occur... Please could somebody point my to the correct direction? Thanks, Pelibali

Diff and dif (second is probably used by those who come from the 8.3 background) are from the standpoint of the program used to obtain the file. Whichever, they get the job done.
