Go grab the codecs here at http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/codecs.html Assuming you're on x86, you'll want to grab the "essentials" package. Alternatively, you could grab the "all" package to get all codecs for x86. Untar the archives, store in some folder (I used /usr/bin/codecs), tell Kaffiene where you hid the codecs, and you're all set. -Chris PS - For Kaffiene (and xine-based media players), you'll need to download the libxine1 package -> http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=124 . Install with YaST or RPM. YaST will complain about 2 dependencies (Speex, win32 codecs, flac). Do not worry about these - both speex and flac are okay, and win32 codecs are all the codecs you just downloaded. Ignore the errors and proceed with install. Kaffiene will work just fine after that.

I did this with beta1 and this did nothing good. may be in beta2. in fact when I lauched amarok in beta 1 it asks for this file and donwload it, then nothing. looking at the README file, I see it should be set in codecs directory, but I find none. I will study this more before creating these dirs thanks jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr

infact, the essentials where installed already in /usr/lib/win32, but audio wma don't play. I installed the GStreamer stuff (150Mo of gnome installed :-((), with no more luck. Banshee don't run. I have seen an enormous thread on this subject, I don't think reading dozen of pages and installing hundred of mbytes is an usable solution. I will use the next (win2000 :-) machine. thanks, but this seems like a sort of bug :-( jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr
