Re: [SLE] problem with playing wmv in suse 10
Hello all:
I have suse 10.0 i386 with multimedia packages from packman:
MPlayer-1.0pre7-pm.3 mplayerplug-in-3.17-0.pm.0 w32codec-all-20050412-0.pm.0
There are a few wmv files that mplayer can't play correctly. An example is here: http://totalcar.index.hu/ujauto/link/tv.php3?tvurl=http://dl. totalcar.hu/tc25_02.wmv
Doesn't do anything in either my *nix laptop or my WinXP desktop. I'd say the file is FUBAR. Tell them to re-encode. -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com linux - genuine windows replacement part

I was able to stream _and_ download/play the file under SUSE (presently 9.3) but experienced the "herky jerky" playback reported by the OP. In addition: Firefox tried to run some kind of "report back" routine (grrrrr!) prepended to the URL of the actual file. MPlayer complained "too many frames in the buffer". MPlayer complained that it couldn't resolve dl.totalcar.hu via IPv6 (this is a configuration issue at *my* end, I know.) But I _was_ able to view the file and reproduce the OP's complaints. I think your XP *and mplayerplug-in/MPlayer installations are FUBAR ;-) - Carl
