re Netgear adsl router & suse 9
Thanks for that. I will try it once I get back home. Sorry about hijacking thread I selected a email from Suse Linux e and went reply to all delleting the old details or so I thought. I was trying to email while the boss was floating about. I will be more carefult in future
Richard, It's a common mistake. When you reply to a message, your mailer creates a message header (that is often not visible) called "In-Reply-To:" with the ID of message you're responding to. Deleting all the old details won't remove this header, so the misleading relationship of your message to the earlier ones is preserved. Rather than replying to an existing message, copy the list address from a message and paste it into an entirely new one---or even better, put the address of the list in your address book, so you can create a new message and never get the address wrong. Jim Yeah I'll do that, I tried what you suggested reference the ADSL router when I typed it in I got 'File already exists' However going back into Yast , I tried allocating a static IP address again and this time it appears to have worked! I am writing this email now with Kmail not outlook . I don't know what has changed, unless even though I got that error message your suggestion worked, but I had tried the same thing yesterday under both windows and Linux and under both the netgear didn't like static IP's. So I am not sure what was the problem, however it is working now which is the main thing. Anyway thanks a lot for the advice Jim and also Tim for his suggestion. I had visions of having to use windows for the forseable future. That was a close run thing! Richard G.
