[S.u.S.E. Linux] HP 820 Cse (Printer)
I just read the printing faq, and learned that my printer is a winprinter. Could I get some recommendations for printers that do work well in linux? If they are good brands, that would be even better, because I hate to be stuck with a product that could only perform half of its duties in linux, such as not being able to print color. Also, I don't hold much help, but if someone has gotten a HP printer that is labeled "For Windows" and made it work in linux, I would really appreciate it if they would tell me how or give me some pointers. -- Aaron Seelye <A HREF="http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto"><A HREF="http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto</A">http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

I wrestled with getting this printer to work with Linux. I believe someone goto it to work using ghostscript driver from ftp.mit.edu (I think that's the URL). The only way I can think to use any windows devices (printers, modems, etc) is to have a network between your linux machine and your windows machine and run samba. It will be able to see your printer as a network shared device off your windows machine. I use an Epson Stylus Color 600 with excellent results. It was all of $200US. Hello Aaron, The printing FAQ wont help you much in this case.
