Hello group; I am trying to set up a pop3s server that will use logins for the box as email accounts. I have used this link http://davidkrider.com/suse_8.2.php which sets up an IMAPs server. But when I try to change from imaps to pop3s I cannot login to the pop3s server. Can some one point me into the correct direction of this? Thanks
Hi Assuming few things because You did not specify the system You are running, and what You exactly want it to do, I would say that check: pop3 is enabled in /etc/inetd.conf Firewall is not blocking ports 25 / 110 You have sendmail or similar running Jaska.

Sorry I did forget alot of info I am on a SuSE 9 running postfix. I can receive email via postfix, procmail. If I use webmin I can view the received email. I just can not get pop3s or pop3 to work. I would rather have pop3s. I can see that the service is running by doing netstat -a --inet. No Firewall at running. using imap-2002 package etc/xinetd.d/imap service pop3s { disable = no socket_type = stream protocol = tcp wait = no user = root server = /usr/sbin/ipop3d server_args = -s (I added this into the configuration) flags = IPv4 } Am I messing something? when Kmail looks at pop3s it says server does not respond... Thanks for your help allOn Tuesday 16 March 2004 07:58, jaska wrote:

I don't know if 9.0 needs the server_args line, but I know 8.2 doesn't, and I doubt 9.0 does.

Did you make a certificate in /etc/ssl/ called ipop3d.pem, according to and adapted from the imap article in the SuSE database / portal. This is a necessary step. You should probably restart xinet.d after making it if you haven't. Also, assuming Kmail automatically changes when you tell it to use ssl, pop3s listens on tcp 995, which would need allowed on your internal network in your firewall settings. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM.
