Hey Group, I have some SuSE machines running in a public Internet access point. It's working brilliantly except for one thing..... Most everyone who sits in front of one of the machines double-clicks everything like Microsoft. So they end up opening two instances of Netscape or whatever, and then since it takes a while they click a couple more times, and there's two more. Is there a way to change the KDE desktop so that it requires a double click instead of a single click? I think Gnome does that out of the box, but I kinda wanted to run KDE because that's what I run. -- Regards, Richard Saint Clair, Co-Founder Technical Manager Internet Users Society Niue Chairman, Pacific Island Chapter ISOC -------------------------------------------- stclair@niue.nu www.niue.nu Voice (68 3) 1157 Fax (68 3) 4237 Internet Service Provider, Niue Island -------------------------------------------- ISP/C, ISOC, APIA, NCOC, ISOCNZ, PICISOC, ARRL -------------------------------------------- Niue Island South Pacific 169 West 19 South

It's in the control panel, I think in the 'look and feel' panel, you'll find it, just browse and look at the options. -- Rafael
If you go to the control panel->peripherals->mouse there is an item 'icons' where you can select double-click behaviour. I just tried it, and it works as you expect Regards Anders On Wednesday 04 July 2001 04:20, Internet Niue wrote:

Indeed, but I am talking about KDE2 here, not 1. Control Center Peripherials Mouse You'll see it right away" "Use double click to activate or open" That should do it, also notice you can change the mouse to left handed, just in case you get a flock of left handed people show up :-).

Beyond the usual "double click" behavior that a few folks have been kind enough to give you the info about.. if you upgrade to KDE2.2beta1, you will get a very nice "application starting" notification -- the mouse pointer gets a nice little (little little) app icon attached to it that "pulses".. so you not only know that "something" is starting, but exactly "what" is starting! It's brilliant! You also get the standard taskbar entry for the app, that features a very smart "spinning CD", which changes into the app icon after the app fully starts. This behavior is also fully configurable in the KControl. There are 2 things that have bothered me about KDE2.2beta1 so far, and they are: 1) I get an error with "nspluginviewer" when Konqueror visits a page with an embedded flash animation. This can be fixed by removing the flash plugin and clicking "rescan" in KControl under Netscape Plugins in the browser configuration section. Just a temporary fix, and hopefully they'll fix it in beta2. 2) Noatun (the KDE2 media player with the funky name) seems to have a mind of its own.. sometimes it works.. sometimes it doesn't. My advice: Stick with XMMS. It's far more stable than noatun at this point anyways. Other than those 2 things, I have yet to find anything wrong with KDE2.2beta1 that sticks out like a sore thumb. Good luck with your public internet access point! :^) Have a great 4th! -Steven
