Has anyone connected to Win2k network domain using SuSE 8.0? I have been through the network, Lisa, and Windows shares, still no success. SMB and samba are installed. Searched documentations, manuals, and internet, could find nothing about samba client connection, only samba server. Would appreciate any info or where to find a HOWTO to do this. Also had problems with 7.3 in this aspect. Art

hi Art, You want to connect to Windows shares right? You might want to lookup the smbmount command (man smbmount) or install LinNeighborhood from the cd's (= a X-frontend to smbmount) and run that. It's really very easy (if you know where to look) ;-) Cheers, Marcel
Art,
From what I can remember the following will connect to a share on any windows box
mount -t smbfs //windowsserver/windowsshare /where you want to mount it on
your linux box
You may need to tweak it as it probably will ask for a password
I have used this before with no problems

Keith is correct! :) the tweaking would be through an option specified at the end of the command. "-o" = options --> mount -t smbfs //host/share /mntpoint -o username=bob, password=xyz or you can leave the password off and it will prompt you for one! This way, no one else on your machine can "ps -ef" and see your password! :) Travis Owens towens@linuxmds.com I'm out of my mind right now, but please feel free to leave a message.
