[Recommendations for laser printers to use in SuSE Linux?]

Hi everyone, Currently I have a Panasonic KX-P6300 laser printer, that is few years old. It is a "windows printer", so it doesn't work under linux at all. Now eero when I have started using linux more and more, I'm interested to get a new printer to use. I've done some research, and found two possible options. So now I'm asking which one of these would be nicer for SuSE linux 7.2 or linux in general? If you have any experience I would like to hear them. And if you have other suggestions for a nice laser printer, please tell me. The printers I'm about to choose from are Brother HL-1250 and Lexmark 312. Do they both work in all situations in linux? eero.

eero.
I have a Lexmark 312 that has been working in Linux since SuSE 6.4. This printer includes postscript so it is a breeze to set up. Just use YaST1 to to add hardware --> printer then set up a postscript / mono colour / 600x600 / letter size printer and its done. YaST2 could be used to set the printer as a Lexmark 310 and this did work as I recall but the generic postscript setup is just too easy. Lexmark does provide Linux drivers for this printer from their web site. I forget if there were any issues with the Lexmark drivers, like I said the generic postscript is just too easy. My wife and I use this printer for our home office, probably 1500 to 2000 pages a month. The cartridges are rated for 6000 sheets. The cartridges are pricey ~C$200 (vs C$130 for HP LJ4), but then the Lexmark 312 was a lot cheaper ~C$450 (vs ~C$1300 for a HP LJ 4). The quality of print from the Lexmark 312 is very good when compared to other low cost laser printers but is not quite up to the standard of a HP LJ4 when extremely fine fonts (10 pt or less may run some letters close together). Unlike some of the low cost laser printers the Lexmark toner cartridge does not use a separate drum. When looking at the Lexmark I also looked at the Brother. There was no info at their website (last summer) regarding linux drivers. Brother did not respond to email about linux drivers. It would probably work using generic PCL. Brother may have been one of the laser printers that required a separate drum replacement along with the toner cartridge.
