[opensuse] Nicely surprised...
For the first time since using SuSE/Opensuse since 7.3, tonight when I fired up my system I *finally* got to see the moving penguins walking back and forth on the start-up screen in snow and ice (the screen where I choose which 'system' to start, like regular 11.3, or failsafe, or floppy, etc). I thought there was supposed to be a more 'christmasy' theme to it, but this was good enough. I'd waited 10 years just to be able to see this happen after hearing others getting to see it and trying all the posted ways to supposedly make it happen (which none ever worked). Anyway, it was nice to see it and thought I'd just let everyone know. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi , well i just upgraded to openSUSE 11.4 M5 yesterday and along with the usual bugs that i assumed to be present in non-stable factory upgrades i got a nice surprise but it's not the grub boot splash someone in this list was mentioning earlier but vlc. the vlc icon has a santa hat thingy(or whatever they are called on it).i was trying to play a movie with it today and just noticed it. anyhow here is the imageshack link of my screenshot: http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/8480/pic3um.jpg keep up the good work openSUSE devs. openSUSE rocks!! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
If you want to see it more often - every time, even - you could do this: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Animated_penguin_GRUB_splash_screen (It's tagged "tested on 11.2", but it works on 11.3 as well. Or it did here ....) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, the penguin theme is at least one of the (very few) reason that justifies a reboot, isn't it? :D Merry Xmas, Pit -- Dr. Peter "Pit" Suetterlin http://www.astro.su.se/~pit Institute for Solar Physics Tel.: +34 922 405 590 (Spain) P.Suetterlin@royac.iac.es +46 8 5537 8507 (Sweden) Peter.Suetterlin@astro.su.se -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
