Re: TW Feature Request: X11 Fallback Driver
Thunderbird just sent my draft while I was still typing it, interesting. On 4/14/23 06:13, Reid Sutherland wrote:

Nothing wrong with 1024, Windows does the same thing but they have better drivers. No idea how you think a text prompt is better for someone who has no knowledge of what to enter into it.
We are not saying it is better. Would you prefer a cute empty blue screen instead? I guess it is better than that.
Complaining about low resolution VESA, what is the alternative? Text. Keep it technical if you can.
The issue is the kernel driver isn't loaded at boot, so X should be able to move on to the next driver without issue.
It does move to the next driver.
Yes that's been mentioned, has it been tested?
Can safely put this issue to rest unless someone with direct knowledge wants to help correct it (Nvidia).
If the nvidia proprietary driver is enabled, they do it in such a way that X11 can not try another driver.
How do you know this? The kernel driver is not loaded, so it's not a kernel shim issue. Are you suggesting other OSS drivers require a shim that is not being loaded because the config is missing?
Please only reply if you're experienced in this and have tested. I don't want to read anymore sur
It sent an encrypted version of the message while keeping the compose window open (I was still typing the message and removing some of the rude); nothing in the sent folder. Looks like there's a strange bug in the OpenPGP plugin of Thunderbird, think I'll be trying something else. Anyway sorry for the noise. On 4/14/23 06:16, Reid Sutherland wrote:

My mistake, it saved a copy in my inbox, (obviously) didn't send. Seems like a draft issue with OpenPGP, thankfully not a security issue. On 4/14/23 06:45, Reid Sutherland wrote:
