Upgrading SuSE enterprise from 9.0 to 9.x
Hi everyone, I'm wondering what the proper procedure is to upgrade a SuSE enterprise 9.0 box to at least 9.1 (or 9.2 or 9.whatever). I believe I need to upgrade to get past an issue with DNS. I'd like some pointers on where documents that describe the nuts and bolts of upgrading. What sort of license issues are there, if any, and what sort of technical issues are there. Also, where do I find (or purchase if need be) the media or files needed for the upgrade. I've been using linux, mostly debian based for a number of years, where I would typically just apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade. I can't help you with the upgrade procedure, but surely a mere DNS problem cannot be a reason for a complete system upgrade? Why not just upgrade your DNS? /Per Jessen, Zürich

SLES9 is a different beast from SUSE Linux. You should not attempt to upgrade one into the other, it doesn't make sense. It's like trying to upgrade Windows2000Server to WindowsXP. SLES9 SP3 is the current version of the SUSE Enterprise Server line. Do you have the latest updates installed on your machine? Try rpm -qa --last | less and see when the last packet was installed. Better ask on suse-sles-e@suse.com about the DNS problem you're having. But make sure you have an updated system first. Do you have an account for updates?
