Tape Backup Software Recommendations
Does anyone have strong preferences (for or against) any particular native Linux, enterprise-grade tape backup software products that will support DLT-IV, AIT and Travan tape backups, as well as backups to NAS devices? We are looking for something equivalent to Veritas Backup Exec on Windows. Specifically, we will need to backup multiple Linux and Windows servers from one machine; MS SQL servers (while they are running); open files on a Samba server; and MS Exchange. Thanks! I've always liked Arkeia (http://www.arkeia.com). Last I checked, it's free if you are just using it on one or two clients. On Wednesday 03 March 2004 15:55, L. Mark Stone wrote:

I'm kind of impressed by Yosemite's TapeWare, in particular for their crossplaform support, and the design, even placement of the "engine", and distributed tape drives. They understand the business. (It's not trivial to write "real" backup software.) They aren't too small and not too small either. I'm petty sure that you'll find that they'll support the items you stated above, URL: www.tapeware.com (I was the backup guy, for HP Nordics for a few years, so I made contact with them that way) jk -- Suse Linux 9.0 | 2.4.21-166-smp4G | KDE 3.1.4 | XFree86 v4.3.0.1
