There is setup instructions for ESS soundcards in /usr/src/linux/documentation/sound Most common problems seem to be irq conflicts with the printer port, not having the right entries in /etc/conf.modules to initialize the sound module, and not issuing the right modprobe commands. When you boot, does the system give you a log entry saying the card was "initialized" ? Or just "identified".? If it was initialized, then you have a conf.modules problem. If it wasn't initialized, you have an irq conflict or your isapnp.conf has an error. -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
