I need to manually edit the RPM database, but can't find which file(s) it is? Anyone know?
Um, it's a Berkeley DB, not editable in a text editor or using SQL.
Besides, it's *really* not a good idea to mess with it in that way. What exactly are you trying to do?
There are 4 errors in it, that I know of, and KPackage CAN'T remove the entries!! All 4 show up as being installed in KPackage, yet they AREN'T installed. It's not much of a problem for any other app., that I know of, however, I can't use APT because of it!
As Keith said, rpm --rebuilddb should fix it. That operation is for exactly your situation. As for Apt, I have trouble with it. It constantly tries to delete important packages like the kernel source, and all of the packages I build myself (YaST2 counted 440 of them during my 8.0 upgrade). It also refuses to do anything if it detects "problems" such as me telling it *not* to delete packages. I'm sticking with YOU. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8+5wu+FOexA3koIgRAkXXAKCmLCB6qhA0lz09Mp0JHRfDIz4yRwCfQNx1 r/tVv0yz/rrS8xSSRMShyGc= =ZpKa -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
