[SuSE Linux] Patch command trouble
Hello I download the "patch-2.0.34.gz" file from kernel.org server. I place the file in the /usr/src directory, in SuSE 5.2 there is slink from linux to the linux-2.0.33-SuSE directory.

From the /usr/src I executed the following command on the compress patch file.
"patch -sp0 <patch-2.0.34"
the command returned
"File to patch"
Now the kernel-HOWTO informed me that stuff should be whizzing by my screen.
Try -p1 I was perplexed by this also for a long time. Read man patch. It has to do with the first diff line in the patch, and how the file is named with respect to the directory the patch is in, and where you are running the patch from. You can also trying running the patch from an directory either 1 up or down from your current one. It's a mind-blower. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
