Bit of a longshot - I ran a zypper dup on office24, my tw i586 test system. For some reason, this didn't go according to plan. To investigate I tried loading the tumbleweed installer i586 - didn't work. No network interface found. afaict, because module tg3 isn't available. I tried the tumbleweed 64bit installer - same thing, no network interface. afaict, because module tg3 isn't available. I'm going to plug in another nic, different chip. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (16.1°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes

I've tried three-four different nics, hardware-wise they all work, but the installer does not load any network modules. tg3, e1000, sunhme nor some more exotic one. Is there some sort of generic network issue with tumbleweed? (either version). I guess the next step is to boot from a USB rescue system. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (18.0°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes

Thanks for looking it up - the module (and others) is indeed available, but it isn't being loaded (in the installer). See my follow-up posting. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (17.9°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes

Pls ignore - I think it is a matter of not enough memory. Someone (my son I suspect) swiped the 4Gb I had left it with last time and put in the normal 512Mb. Not enough to run installer or rescue. I've now re-installed 4Gb, and I am hitting a different issue. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (18.2°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes (2016 - present) We're hiring - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Heroes
