Scilab comes on the SuSE CD's also. Octave can be downloaded from:
In retrospect it is probably easier to just use Yast and install SciLab or MuPad.
Or it's of course just as easy to install octave from the SuSE CDs:
susegrep octave octave-2.0.16-77.i386.rpm cd1 ap1 octave.rpm octave-2.0.16-77.src.rpm cd5 zq1 octave.spm
