[NFS] Block/Buffer Sizes - no reply in 4 months?

in client fsta i have server_name /home /home nfs rsize=8192,wsize=8192,timeo=14,intr that should be server_name:/home
and in server /etc/exports i have /home client_name(rw,no_root_squash)
Also check you are running hte portmapper service on the NFS server and if you are using hosts_access control you have allowed the IP address of the client machine via /etc/hosts.access

Also one Oliver here, has anyone of you experimented with the above size values? Wouldn't 4096 be best (measured to through-put) ? It's not that simple, unfortuantely. OS, nfs versions, traffic type, even network card types all factor into this. We generally use 8192 (which I think is the default maximum in 2.4) for rsize and wsize but both the clients and servers are Linux over switched 100BT ethernet with a small set of network card types (mainly tulip clones and SMC Ultras). If you are mixing another Unix and lots of different hardware you might want to do some simple testing with time(1) and dd or bonnie. -- -ckm
