I routinely get this problem. For some reason my home network goes brain-dead and decides not to allow me to connect. I usually just reset the router. Hoever, in the interim I often end up connected to one of my neighbors. Someone here told me how to fix: Right click on the knetworkmanager icon in your system tray. Click Options > Configure Then click Wireless Networks You'll see Networks section with a tree list. There are two main categories Fallback and No Fallback. Now - I have spent the past five minutes trying to figure out what these do. There's no reference in the help files. The networks are divided to two groups: fallback and no-fallback. NetworkManager will try to connect to networks in the fallback group even if they are not detected by the network card. This is useful for automatic connection to hidden networks.
