I have just gotten suse 7.3 installed. it detects my 2 nics just fine, then i go into an give them both static ips. no problem there, but then i asign the default gateway, need default gateway to be different on both. one of the nics is for internal lan an ther other is for external with a public ip from swbell for internet access. I setup the one nic for internal lan an give it a defalt gateway address then set up the second nic an give it the default gateway i got from swbell. then go an recheck the default gateway for 1st nic an it has the default gateaddress the same as the second nic. Is there a way to have separate default gateways on the 2 nics. thanks. this box will be our router in the future when i get iptables set so the reason for 2 nics. GOing to make a stab at setting up iptables for the 1st time. jack

It would be better to point this route to your external interface (internet). routes for your internal lan's (if you have more then one) will have to be explicitly added (static routes) or learned by your server from internal routers thru routing protocols (rip, ospf,...)
