[opensuse] leap 42.2/42.3 - libreoffice odt or pdf will not print, no error output
I try to print labels on libreoffice via a odt. This was originally a file for openoffice and was imported to libreoffice. I can convert the file, manipulate it in any way. No problem. But I cannot print for unknown reasons. The printer is a lexmark C543 color laser and prints other documents flawlessly. How can I get a debug output to understand why the printout fails. The printer receives the data, blinks, does the click to get ready and then the whole print job vanishes. I am not really understanding what is the issue. No error message not even on the LCD of the printer. Quite misterious. The printer uses the foomatic driver and a usb driven connection. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Tell LO to print to file, then examine the file. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" (Minas Tirith))

We had a recent thread here discussing LibreOffice dropping default support for older (TrueType 1?) fonts. Could this be related? On a semi-related note, I also have a fairly dated .odt (template) which I've used for quite awhile to print standard business sized envelopes. To use it, one has to place the envelope 'flap side down' (print side up) and aligned to the left so that the return and recipient addresses print in the proper location. This worked beautifully until a fairly recent LO update. Now, to semi-successfully print an envelope, one has to physically rotate the paper envelope 180 degrees in the printer and remove the return address from the template. Otherwise, the return address is grossly improperly aligned and only prints partially. On even another semi-related note, after the fairly recent LO update, the output of my Epson XP-310 color inkjet printer yields inconsistent, 'splotchy' text regardless of the font selected. No such artifacts appear when 'copying' (scanning + printing) documents. I've mentioned these latter two issues just in case others are seeing similar anomalies and it turns out we need to open a broader discussion. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
