Re: [SLE] Help with Amavis / Antivir
If you mean the mail isn't delivered - what makes you think it has something
to do with the virus scanner? Did the mailsending work before you installed
the virus scanner? I don't run Amavis now but used to and it didn't seem to
make any difference to whether the mail was sent or delivered. I seem to
remember that mail with a virus in was put into a file somewhere - check the
documentation as to where. Maybe your setup is incorrect and all your mail
is being sent there! But check for a simpler solution first.

When I comment out the modifications in sendmail.cf mail is delivered OK as before. What i think I am really asking is are there any command line options I have to add to Antivar for example? Or have I missed a step completely, by this I mean the modification to the sendmail.cf removes the procmail references, should these be left in the sendmail.cf as well as the Amavis mods? Does Amivis do the same job as procmail as well as scan the emails for viruses? Sorry to appear so thick, but this is all a bit new.

I have installed both of the above and am trying to get them to to run. In the documentation for Amavis, it details modifications to sendmail.cf thus:-
Mlocal, P=/usr/sbin/amavis, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@qSPfhn09, S=EnvFromL/HdrFromL, R=EnvToL/HdrToL, T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix, A=amavis -a $h -d $u
This I have done, ran newalias, I have also checked the /usr/sbin/amivis file and it appears to be configured correctly.
When sending a test mail (or any mail), I get a nice "beep" and mail disappears into a black hole.
What Have I missed? Any help greatly appreciated.

The only time I saw this screw up is when I started sendmail via xinetd and inetd. You need to run Amavis sendmail as a daemon, and I believe its already chrooted...Correct me if I am wrong on this.
