[opensuse] "Find my mouse pointer" feature
Random question for everyone - On my old laptop at work, oS 11.4 had a "find my mouse pointer" feature where you could shake your mouse, and it would draw concentric circles around the pointer. Alas, I can't seem to find that feature in 12.3 on KDE :/ There is an option you can enable where you hit a key combination to do something similar, but it's not nearly as handy since you have to move your hands from where they are to hit that key combo. Finding your mouse pointer may not seem like a big deal, but I've got three 1920x1080 displays set up, one of them vertically, so sometimes the mouse can get lost for a little bit :P Anyone know how to get the old "shaker" feature back? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I haven't seen that, nor have I seen the mouse trails feature that was so common on windows. I just opted for a bigger cursor with a shadow, under Workspace Appearance. Whiteglass seems to work well, but colors are available, and you can adjust the size on that same screen. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Cool cool :) I ended up switching to the red pointers because that seems to stand out the best against my myriad of window types (mostly a combination of browser windows, terminal screens, and IDEs.) It works fairly well, but I miss that "shake and show" feature :P

No I don't. I don't use Gnome. But - going back to the time I ran Ubuntu with Gnome - you may have to install something possibly called (?)gconfigtool or something? Best I can do...... Cool, yup, that's the one that I'm using currently :) I just miss the old "shake the mouse to find it" one :P

And I see no indication of anything indicating the location of the mouse pointer on my KDE TumbleWeed desktop. I do have the "eyes" widgets on the taskbar, but with the taskbar hidden it is of little use other than adornment. Perhaps an enhancement of the hidden taskbar function would be a key-combination that raises the taskbar? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

hide the taskbar is so error prone that I do not use it anymore jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I haven't observed any problems with hidden taskbar in the last 6 months or so. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Have never had any problems with hiding the taskbar. The first thing I do when I install is to downsize it and to auto-hide it. this do nothing on my desk (nouveau driver) I had to press the "Ctrl" and "MS Windows" keys together to get a partial circle around the mouse pointer to show where it was. (nvidia +kde)
