Hello, This may seem a silly question, but is there a keyboard shortcut to open a new tab in Konsole? I have rifled through the Konsole help and preferences, as well as the KDE preferences, but I haven't found one. I used Gnome for several years before switching to KDE a few months ago, and in the Gnome terminal, SHIFT-CTRL-T will open a new tab. It would be great if I could use the keyboard to do this in Konsole, too. Thanks in advance for any answers you may have. - Dave -- Dave Parker Utica College Department of Integrated Information Technology Services Data Processing Office (315) 792-3229 Registered Linux User #408177

Nope. That changes the current tab. The Konsole counterpart I'm wishing for rearranges the relative order of the tabs in the tab bar.

Excellent! I really just want to be able to control the order of tabs--the use of the keyboard to achieve it is a secondary concern. If I had that ability then I wouldn't need to pre-open a lot of tabs in order to (try to) get tabs holding particular pages in a particular order. (Mozilla is still my browser of choice, but I'll probably switch to Firefox or SeaMonkey soon.) Is there a Firefox 1.5 RPM for SuSE 10.0 yet? What about SeaMonkey?

OK, but which repository holds that package? It does not appear to be in any of the repositories I use. Randall Schulz

Great. Thanks. Oddly enough, I think this might be the first RPM I've installed on my 10.0 system that didn't come from a YaST repository. Note, too, that the http counterpart of that URL works, as well: <http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozilla/firefox/1.5.0.1>

Randall, I realize your wish for an RPM, but if you decide to download the tar.gz from www.getfirefox.com, it will run from wherever you decompress it to. I have my copy in my home directory, but you can obviously put it wherever you find it convenient. - James W.

When it comes to Firefox or Mozilla, I've made it a requirement to use an RPM. I'm just not interested in all the mucking around required to get the basic plug-ins working correctly with each new tarball-based release, which always come completely stripped down.

I completely understand. I was just notified (via pop-up window) that version 1.5.1 is out, and can be updated automatically. Hopefully the updates will see my plug-ins and use them. - James W.

More than your question does. Read the thread. It was an offshoot of the question about keyboard tab manipulation in Konsole and my offhand wish for some of Konsole's tab capabilities in Mozilla. It's unreasonable to demand or expect that conversations spawn no tangents and it's equally unreasonable to expect a new thread to be started every time a tangent it taken.

Agreed, but maybe the addition of (OT) at some point might have been nice, though I know that it's easy to get pulled along with the current when a topic changes.

Hi, I'm a newcomer to Suse, Linux and this group and will be lurking trying to learn as much as I can. Just wanted to make my introduction to all & there's absolutely no need to reply. All the best, Gary

Oh, but there is! You used your mail client's "Reply" function then edited the Subject. This is a big no-no, since to subscribers with good email clients (those that do topic threads) your reply appears to be a part of the thread containing the message you chose to reply to, which it is not. Please create a genuine new message to start a new topic thread. Also, a Reply-To header is not advised. We strongly prefer to keep all mail on the list, and a Reply-To header drawing responses back to you thwarts that policy.
All the best,
Gary

Can you please more verbosally describe how you do that? It doesn't seem work with the firefox version that comes with the suse-10.0 DVD.

As Jim said, this is a feature in Firefox 1.5. The SuSE 10.0 release included 1.0.something and that version does not have this feature. If you use the URL he mentioned earlier to retrieve and install the RPM for 1.5.0.1, then you can reorder tabs by clicking on a tab with the CTRL key held won and then dragging. You'll see a small arrow above the tabs and positioned between two tabs indicating where the tab you're dragging will be relocated if you release the mouse at that point. I love it! Randall Schulz
