Hi, my question for you is that I continue to receive a 'Compact folders', (message while using Thunderbird). It's annoying, and I am not certain if I should go ahead and confirm this. Emptying the trash doesn't do anything more than hide messages from you. Compacting folders is what actually gets deleted messages off the filesystem, really out of the "folders" they previously could be found in. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. If in doubt, make a backup of your .thunderbird directory beforehand. Compacting folders has never had any detrimental effect in my own use. gumb
