With Lotus Notes, Exchange etc., you need a directory service running, which keeps track of IDs, passwords, encryption keys and more. If you don't have a directory server to use, you have to manually move the encryption keys to all devices/apps that need them.
A change in the status, say a "marked as Deleted" creates a time stamped "STATUS" file. This file is e-mailed and received when you go to another machine to get your email in Thunderbird. Thunderbird says "You have received a STATUS update. Would you like to apply it? YES / NO. This is a clue...
No it's not. IMAP already syncs email on every device that connects to it. You can even download copies for "off line" use in Thunderbird and other apps. You seam to think Thunderbird should change to something that it's not, in order to avoid using the proper protocol: IMAP. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
