Now that I am learning more of SuSE Linux, I want even more to escape the M$ world. I have been developing programs to run equipment in the lab where I work and have been using Borland in the Windows world for the last 6 years. I would like to make the move as painless as possible especially for porting existing programs written in C and C++ with Borland's OWL. I am aware that there are many development methods and environments for the Linux world but I am not sure what is the best approach for me. Kdevelop seems like a nice tool but still there is no integrated tool for building the panels. Does anyone have any suggestions for best approach for moving from Borland/Windows to Linux? A little searching found QTDevelop but their products seem rather expensive. I also found Borland's Kylix but then I would have to re-learn Pascal. Any opinions? Damon Register

I remember reading somewhere that the command line Borland C/C++ compiler was available for Linux, but I don't know about the OWL libraries which would be needed for any graphical apps you have. Newsgroups, conference reports and 'rumours' from the beta testers.

Borland has a habit of not announcing, or even mentioning anything till it is out, unlike some companies I know <g> Phil -- Linux 2.4.4-4GB 11:26am up 2 days, 21:15, 1 user, load average: 0.23, 0.18, 0.13
