In the recent past (few days ago) I upgraded kde 3.2 to kde 3.3 using apt-get in my SuSE 9.1 distribution. I have a problem with special(accent) characters in some applications like kmail, konsole, kile; the accent characters appears as squares instead of letters. As recommended, I have (re)-installed the kde base packages and the qt libraries, but that does not resolve the problem. What can I do? Thanks in advance. Gustavo Adolfo

See if the font you use can print those characters. Cheers, Leen

Hi, after doing apt dist-upgrade and installing KDE 3..3.0,accents no longer worked: see my bug report to KDE, with links to several posts on the same subject. Other posts can be found in the SuSE spanish mailing list. Since I couldn't find a fix, I went back to KDE 3.2. Cheers Pablo Ortúzar
Same problems here with brazillian ortuguese accents. I've already posted it with no solution. This issue only happens with some applications like konqueror and konsole. Kmail is fine here. Em Sex 10 Set 2004 07:26, Pablo Ortúzar escreveu:

Hi, I have a international keyboard and configure the layout for both US (US english layout) and accents (US w/ deadkeys). After update to kde 3.3, the US layout stop to work. I solve it by change the layout US english to US w/ ISO9995-3, now all is working. I note that before the update the US english layout show the parameter Layout variant as intl, and US w/ ISO9995-3 has the Layout variant as basic. Maybe your problem can be solved if you look that parameter. It is only a suggestion. Cheers Thadeu
