Well I received 5.3 FedEx yesterday. After some of the comments I was unsure whether I wanted to upgrade(in fact I had not requested to be on a subscription). The upgrade went fairly easily though my sound does not work(I'll have to go back and look at some posts concerning that, which encouraged me it may be easier than in 5.2 BTW what is the difference between the OSS and the OSS demo?) To my main point: I had never fully configured diald(I think it may be of little use as my internet access is through a freenet that does not support PPP), but after upgrading to 5.3 Linux dials my modem almost before boot up has completed.
