HI.. I just d/loaded cdbakeoven.rpm from the suse site for suse 8...I try to install it with rpm -i and it installs without an error message ...I see it in the /opt/kde3 files yet it does not appear on the desktop menu and it does not run if I call it from a terminal in x....Anyone got it to run ok ?? Xcdroast works a treat so am not particularly bothered but would like to get it to run as it looks ideal to show new users.. -- Regards Ted Wager Linux user

Have you tried launching in by typing the full path? /opt/kde3/bin/cdbakeoven It works for me. As for the kde menu, you can always insert it manually. fxf -- ______________________ Courtesy of SuSE Linux

Hi.. Thanks for the mail...I tried typing the full path but no result...I will delete all the files and try a reinstall and see what happens ====================== Ted, Why not install it from your SuSE 8.0 cds first then update it with the files from the SuSE ftp site? That way you get a clean install with all dependencies settled and the upgrade will go smoother and you will also get a menu entry as well. I am not certain that cdbakeoven is fully functional yet, maybe the latest version is working better. It is a nice looking program though, but I, like you, prefer either Xcdroast or KreateCD to use for burning.

Hi Thanks for the reply...Cdbakeoven does not appear on the dvd so I cannot do this... ================== Ted, You are right, my apologies as I thought the program was included in the 8.0 pro package. I do not find it either, so must have installed it from the provided rpms on SuSE's ftp site. It was in my menu bar, so I mistakenly thought it was installed from the cd's, but it was not. Mine does run ok though and as I mentioned, I did put it in my menu, I don't think it installs itself there. The program looks very good,

This will tell you if it was installed and the version. Mine shows 1.8.9-1 right now and starts well from the shell or menu with a "cdbakeoven" command. It you get a response from the rpm -q command, then do a "whereis cdbakeoven" in your shell to see where the executable is located. If it is in bin, then it should be available to you. Hey, I'm using SuSE 7.3, and have been using cdbakeoven as my burning program ever since SuSE first put up KDE3 RPMs. It's been working fine without any work on my part straight from the RPM. Maybe there's an issue for the 8.0 RPM that I can't see? One noteworthy thing about this program is that it is still based on KDE2/QT2. The official site says they're still working on the KDE3/QT3 version. So it working will mean you need KDE2 libs and QT2 as well. I've had problems with some specific programs running on KDE3 that are built for KDE2, but not all of them. This one has been running fine on my 7.3 system. I'd highly recommend a KDE3 upgrade if you're still on 3.0.0. 3.0.1 fixed a lot of issues running KDE2 apps, and 3.0.2 fixed even more. BTW, the CVS version of cdbakeoven on the official site is built for KDE3. However I've tried it and it's not very stable. Stick with the KDE2 version for now until they get a stable KDE3 version out. I just used my new toy apt-get and cdbakeoven installed with no problems on my Suse 8.0 with KDE 3.0.1. Staring from the console (no full path required) did produce a couple of warning messages saying, "KLocale trying to look up "" in catalogue. Fix the program". But cdbakeoven then started up and appears to be functional from what I can see so far. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "The earth has enough for everyone's needs, but not for some people's greed." - Gandhi -- 10:20am up 10 days, 19:07, 1 user, load average: 1.99, 1.98, 1.99--
