[opensuse] How to stop LibreOffice from starting on boot?
Since installing 15.1, I find LibreOffice is starting when I boot up. Is there any way to stop this? In the past, there was an Autostart folder, where this sort of thing may be happening, but that folder appears to be gone. How do I stop LibreOffice from starting, when I don't want it to? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

you must have a reallllly old libreoffice on 15.1 as the quickstart was depricated on 5.4 and removed completely on 6.1. tw has 6.2.5.2. I don't have 15.1 any more. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I did a fresh install of 15.1, so the LibreOffice is the one that came with it or later. It's v6.1.3.2, build 2. According to Yast > Software Management, 6.1.3.2 is the latest. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What desktop? As you hide this information, I'll assume it is XFCE. It is done with the xfce4-autostart-editor program. Or go to All Settings, then the Setting and Startup module, then the Application Autostart tab. Untick Libre Office. Done. Or it could be the session tab. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. Sorry, KDE4. I have never run XFCE, but often mentioned I run KDE. There used to be an Autostart folder, which is where I went to look, but that folder is gone. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

In 15.0 (should be the same in 15.1?) there is a Startup and Shutdown/Autostart selection in the desktop configuration. Are you sure there is no autostart folder anymore? It's been in ~/.config/autostart for some time now. I'm surprised if it isn't used anymore, though it may have been moved elsewhere. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

indeed, it is still there but only populated purposely by <user>. so there should be nothing there as the OP doesn't even know of it's existence. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

And yet, from everything said here so far, there does seem to be something in there. It really doesn't matter where it came from, what matters to James is only how to get rid of it :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I've looked in there and there are no apps listed to autostart. However, there is a session restore, which is set. I'll try turning that off. But that wouldn't explain why an app that wasn't running would restart.

Yes, there used to be an Autostart folder in ~/.kde4 and it's still in backup copies of my system, but not in 15.1. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Or, you could save your current session, making sure that only the applications you want are running. Then on next login you should get those. But I don't know in KDE how you do to manually save the session status. It could be a tick when you log out. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Actually, this auto restarting is apparently new to 15.1. I've never enabled it before and I find anything starting then to be annoying. At least the others apps that were starting, such as Firefox, Seamonkey or Chromium were ones that I use regularly. I don't use LibreOffice that often. There were also some other apps I use regularly that weren't starting automatically. Incidentally, this incident showed that there are a couple of autostart folders, but the one that used to be there is gone. Perhaps what should be done is a link created from the home directory to wherever the autostart folder currently is. Otherwise, users may want to use it, but not know where it is. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Well, I'm used to autostart and count of it. When I click "logout" I want the status saved, and when I log back in, everything restarted in the same exact place and size. Including terminals and tabs. In the case of terminals, they remember the last directory for each. Of course, I can log out saving nothing.

Well, what I describe is not autostart, is session status save. I have been using it for decades perhaps. Gnome, then XFCE. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)
