I finally got my SuSE Samba shown on my win98 network neighbourhood. But! the group name is kind of weird (Arbeitsgruppe?), is there anyway to change to something more decent like SuSE Samba? Thanks and regards. Have a look at /etc/smb.conf. There is a parameter called "workgroup", that defines exactly this. Lenz, It might be a wise idea to include a simple configuration script to configure Samba for the first time. Many, I mean MANY people have terrible difficulties configuring Samba for a clean setup, only to be able to access the shares. Almost always it won't work the first time, because there are a few things that have to be configured. Since many people don't know this, the configuration tool may be nice to have handy. It would also be nice if the workgroup is named 'Workgroup' instead of 'Arbeitsgruppe', since the rest of the system is in English. I know many people don't understand German. Maybe in the next release? I'm sure it will help out MANY users. The major pain in the *ss with SWAT is, that when I make a change, the question rises: How can I submit them?!?!! There's only a button to default them, not to submit! Obviously, there must be a way with SWAT to config. your samba, yet there are still many people that can't even FIND SWAT in the first place... Well, I doubt that there are different SWAT versions out there ;-) Point your browser to http://localhost:901/, click on the `printers' image, select a printer, press the `Choose Printer' button and then the `Commit Changes' button should pop up.

Thanks Cliff, I have got it changed. I realised two things: 1. I can only use lower case for the name? otherwise the win box can't see it?? 2. I only setup 1 HP5L but it shows 3 printer options: 1 ASCII?, 1 HP5L (ok) and 1 LPT2?? What's going on??? Linux/unix uses lower case almost exclusivly. Don't ask me why more and more Upper Case is creeping in?
2. I only setup 1 HP5L but it shows 3 printer options: 1 ASCII?, 1 HP5L (ok) and 1 LPT2??
These are different printing styles ascii is straight ascii, 1HP5L is The ps/gs version for hp5 and 1LPT2 is another printer on a different port? I have been wrong before. I have 4 in stanzas in mine. My question is why does SuSE have multiple entries, While RedHat only has one stanza for each different printer.
What's going on???
