Saving Konq view profile for /smb, etc.

I posted earlier about the problems I was having in persuading Konqueror to save my view profile -- I kept setting the view to Detail and saving the view profile in every way I could, but when I came back to the same directory, the view reverted to the full icon view. I now understand the problem a little better, but still don't have a solution. It seems that if I bring up /smb (and probably many other things also) via a command window, Konqueror is invoked to display it (as it should be). But the view profile that Konq uses is *not* filemanagement, as I might have expected, since switching the view profile to filemanagement in fact gives me the detail view I want. So Konq is using some other view profile for that kind of invocation -- but which view profile is it using? Paul

I just tested this feature on my desktop (SuSE 8.2, KDE 3.3.0), with the following results: ALt+F2 (Run Command) '/home/aphilipp' : Konqueror comes up with the filemanagement profile. Alt+F2 (Run Command) 'www.google.com': Konqueror comes up with the webbrowsing profile. I think this is what you would expect it to do, and I have no idea which profile it is using on your desktop, where things apparently don't work as expected. Regards, -- Andreas Philipp Noema Ltda. If you change the view, save the (filemanagement) profile, and load /home/aphillipp again, do you get the changed view or the original view? I get the original view. (This is under SuSE 9.1.) Paul

I definitely get the changed view with the filemanagement profile. I have changed the filemanagement profile from tree view to icon view and back again - it is working as expected. Regards, -- Andreas Philipp Noema Ltda. Bogotá, D.C. - Colombia Tel./Fax: +57.1.6252084

This is really odd. I have two different computers running SuSE 9.1, one at the office and one at home. (I do my SuSE list work at home.) The one at home behaves as yours does; the one at the office does not. Unfortunately I don't have easy access to the SuSE list from the office computer. Paul
