[SuSE Linux] Phillips velo win CE 2.0 device
Hello, I'm relatively new to linux, and of all the distributions I've tried I like SuSE the best [currently 6.0, waiting for my 6.1 to come ... :-)]. Anyway, I use a Philips Velo1 with CE 2.0, and I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the direction of information on using this under Linux. The only solution I have been able to find so far is to use VMware and run things like normal on the guest machine. However, it would seem as though one should be able to (at a minimum) use samba and use some variant of win ce networking functions to get data back and forth. However - I'm just learning Samba as well, so I guess there's nothing like jumping into the deep end to learn to swim. ;-) Any tips or hints would be useful. I used to use a velo 500 and used vmware to synch outlook data to my velo. Since then, I went to a palm which is much more unix/linux friendly. There are a lot of utilities to allow synching, backing up of data, installing apps, etc for a pilot. I still use vmware to run the pilot desktop but not so often anymore. One can use kpilot and korganize and get close to some synching nirvana :) There is also pilot-link and pilotmanager for linux. Pilot-link is a very useful suite of applications, ImO. I dont know of any samba approaches for this. I just stopped with the velo and my company got me a palm 5. I like the palm 5 overall. -- Michael Perry mperry@basin.com ---------------------- -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
